Multilingual Performer of Note
Dr David wa Maahlamela is an award-wining poet, writer, scholar, and creative consultant with over two decades experience in the linguistic, artistic, and cultural industry. He holds an MA in Creative Writing as well as PhD in African Languages from Rhodes University. Among others, he is the recipient of the 2011 PanSALB Multilingualism Award, 2012 Maskew Miller Longman Award, and the 2014 SABDC Awards. He occupied executive positions in academic and state entities. He authored four books, and edited an anthology, while his works feature in over fifty literary journals and anthologies. He participated in events as far afield as the United States, Britain, France, Germany, India, Colombia and several African countries.
Linguistic Landscape of the African Continent
His promotion of Kiswahili as a potential Pan African Language is much revered as far as West Africa. He strongly believes that decolonisation and decoloniality will remain a mirage as long as the language question is unresolved.
